Q:6 Water too cold and Neon light On?
There's nothing to worry about! Check if the temperature dial is turned too low. You would need to turn it clockwise to get hotter temperatures. Also check if the water flow too high and adjust it water heater's specifications.
Also check if one or more of the heating module thermal cut-outs have tripped. Simply turn the heater off, remove the cover and locate thermal cutouts on the top of each heating module. Reset each by pushing the red reset button located in the center. It is possible that the flow of water is caused due to obstructions in it's path causing it to overheat. Clear the heater’s inlet filter screen and all outlets served by the heater. Also ensure you're not feeding preheated water into the heater as it is designed for a cold water feed only.
In case of an incoming power supply, another cause for this could be that the power supply voltage has dropped. You would have to measure voltage on the water heater’s terminal block while operating at maximum flow and maximum temperature setting. The AE-115/AE-125 PowerStar Whole House Water Heaters are rated for 240V but can even operate at 220V or 208V with reduced output which will vary in accordance with the ratios.
Check if the inlet water temperature is too cold by turning the temperature knob clockwise, located at the bottom, for maximum temperature setting. Also ensure flow rates are within the heater’s specifications. We recommend using an isolation valve on the hot water outlet to control flow rate.
One cause can also be that one of the power supplies to the heater is not on. To correct this, get a licensed electrician to verify adequate voltage on the terminal block inside the water heater. Also verify if circuit breakers serving the heater are not tripped and that the supply voltages are adequate.
In some cases, there can also be premature element failure. After shutting off the power of the heater and removing the cover, use an ohm meter to verify correct resistance on each element.
