Q.8 Burners Do Not Burn Cleanly; Yellow Flames When Operating?

  • Assure that the unit is operating on proper gas type. On right side of cover one can easily locate rating plate. NG (Natural Gas) LP (Liquefied Petroleum)
  • Gas pressure may be insufficient. Check gas line size table in the specification table to ensure it is proper and sufficient. Check for adequate gas pressure at inlet tap on unit also.
  • For proper combustion at higher altitude the inlet gas pressure should be set at installation to the value shown below (while operating at maximum BTU)

    Altitude Natural Gas
    Inches W.C.
    Liquid Propane
    Inches W.C.
    0 ft - 2,000 ft 5.7" 10.5"
    2,000 ft - 4,500 ft 4.6" 8.4"

Above 4,500 ft it better to seek advise of your local gas provider to see if any adjustment are required or not?

  • Ventilation is not sufficient. Ventilation / Combustion air requirements are to be checked. Make sure the AquaStar vents properly.
  • The AquaStar has burners similar to a furnace. It is important that they remain clean and are supplied with adequate air for combustion. If the flames burn yellow or orange it is strongly suggested that the burners must be removed from the unit and cleaned. Once removed the heat exchanger fins above the burners can also be wiped or vacuumed clean.
