Q.3 Pilot Goes Out During or After Hot Water Use?

  • After passage of some years, thermostat's temperature range may change and hot water temperatures may increase. This is due to the overheat/high limit sensor, affixed to the lower left heat exchanger pipe. It will interrupt with the pilot circuit when the water temperature is too hot. This will shuts off all gas to the AquaStar as a safety. The 125BS is made to regulate gas flow to the burners when preheated water flows through it, at times the thermostats adjustment setting nut has already been adjusted for a higher temperature setting and the inlet water temperature has increased then overheating is quite possible. A word of caution: One should not replace the the overheat/high limit sensor to rectify this symptom until and unless it has been tested as defective.
  • Make sure that the burners in the AquaStar go off when the hot water is turned off. On turning them off if still If they remain on or takes longer time then the overheat/high limit sensor will stop the pilot circuit and shut off all gas to the AquaStar for safety reasons. The water valve assembly can also be and requires regular maintenance (2 - 5 years is typical depending on water quality and use).
  • If the above steps do not correct the problem then confirm that the gas pressure is sufficient. Check gas line size in the specification table and also check gas pressure at inlet tap on unit.
  • Always be sure that complete thermocouple circuit is strong and pilot flame is strong enough to engulf the thermocouple tip.
